One of the most valuable skills a facilitator can develop is the ability to help groups discuss what everyone knows, but nobody is saying.

The challenge is that hidden concerns rarely stay hidden by accident.

People often remain silent because they fear conflict, judgement, embarrassment, political consequences, or damaging relationships.

Push too hard, and people become defensive.

Avoid the issue, and the group remains stuck.

The facilitator’s role is to create a pathway that allows difficult truths to emerge safely.
